Newspapers: Moving from Newsprint to Digital Delivery
Monday, February 1, 2010 at 11:55AM As traditional media companies adjust their business models for the 21st century, experiments in re-combining media content abound. The New York Times, for example, has been working hard at this for several years. These days, subscribers can consume New York Times content in an amazing variety of ways: on the web site, a Daily Digest summary via email or FAX, and the wonderful Times Reader, an Adobe AIR-based application for Mac, Windows, and Linux.
David Pogue says the new Apple iPad will support the Times Reader product. This is a pleasant surprise because Times Reader is a wonderful way to read and is super-sharp on the screen. (See screenshot from my laptop below.)
I am not sure why The Times is even bothering to create a custom app that (which they demo'ed on stage at the iPad announcement on January 27). It seems to me that the Times Reader is already the perfect app for the iPad.

I think we still have to wait for a while to get the real effects of the stimulus plan. It will take several years to get back on the track again.
